DIGITAL CROCHET PATTERN

Looking for the knit version? It’s here.

The Pride & Progress Cowl takes inspiration from the Progress Pride Flag created by Daniel Quasar. Like the flag, the cowl builds on the traditional rainbows, joining them with mitered stripes representing transgender people, people of color, and those impacted by HIV/AIDS. Its modular construction - four squares forming a continuous tube - symbolizes the progress we can make when we come together and prioritize inclusion.

20% of the proceeds from pattern sales will be donated to The Trevor Project initially. In the future, these funds may be directed to other organizations that support the queer community, wherever the need seems greatest at that time.

CONSTRUCTION

This cowl is an infinity tube (aka doughnut or torus) formed by joining four squares together. The first two squares are worked separately in rainbow stripes, from one corner to the other, on the bias. The third and fourth squares are worked modularly by picking up stitches from the rainbow squares and working mitered squares inward with decreases at each corner.
