Exploring the Roots of Addiction & Recovery

This trauma informed workbook provides a detailed and scripted process that helps individuals safely explore the roots of their addiction and develop a foundation for recovery within a group process. Group members are guided to develop and practice stabilization skills, identify trauma and addiction memory networks, and recognize self-referencing negative cognitions or themes related to their histories of both trauma and addiction. Additionally, group members are prompted to identify the strengths and resources they need for a solid and personalized recovery plan.

This workbook can be used by counselors, recovery coaches or psychotherapists who work with individuals struggling with addiction. For EMDR Therapists, using the workbook process can provide a map to navigate Phases 1 & 2 in a group process, preparing participants for the next phases of EMDR Therapy.
