SML Stock Research Workbook Bundle
Keep your valuation assumptions, earnings evidence and position constraints in one research workflow.
Use three focused workbooks to work through different parts of your company research. The included Investment Thesis Notebook gives you a place to explain your view, record its strongest opposing case and state what would change your mind.
USD 20
One-time digital download · Version 1.0.0 · Notebook included at no additional charge · Applicable taxes added at checkout.
The three workbooks
1. SML DCF Comparison Workbook
Compare previous and current valuation assumptions across Bear, Base and Bull cases. Review the five-year FCFF forecast, enterprise-to-equity bridge, estimated value per share and sensitivity to WACC. Keep dates, sources and reasons alongside the assumptions.
The model requires positive starting FCFF. It does not build FCFF from financial statements or calculate WACC for you. Read the existing DCF product details. Its separate price remains USD 9.
2. SML Earnings Check
Organize eight quarters of manually entered company results. Compare a selected quarter with the same quarter a year earlier and an optional prior forecast. Record source details, revisions and questions before reviewing your DCF assumptions. A blank workbook and a wholly fictional worked example are included.
3. SML Position Size Planner
For USD, long-only stocks bought with cash, compare the new-share limits from your chosen loss budget, available cash and concentration cap. Include existing shares, fees, slippage and the broker's supported share increment. Review planned-exit, gap-price and zero-price scenarios.
Included free: Investment Thesis Notebook
Use a short written record to connect the figures with your reasoning. Note what the business does, the thesis to test, the strongest opposing case, dated sources, uncertainty, review conditions and changes to your view.
• A six-page editable Word .docx file with 22 content controls
• A six-page fillable PDF with 22 fields for short notes
• A three-page reusable blank template and a two-page fictional completed example, plus the opening guide
The notebook is included free in this bundle. It is not a separately priced product. Use Word for longer answers; the PDF fields have fixed space. References to the workbooks are entered manually.
A practical sequence for a new researcher
The free ten-step stock research framework explains the process behind these templates, from reading filings to recording evidence that could change your thesis.
• Write the question. Use the notebook to state what you believe about the business and what evidence you still need.
• Check the reported results. Enter source-based data in Earnings Check and review the changes and open questions.
• Reconsider the assumptions. Make any chosen DCF changes manually, keeping the previous view for comparison.
• Examine position constraints if relevant. Use the planner with your own cash, limits and cost assumptions.
• Record the decision. Explain your reasoning and set a review date. Waiting or taking no action can be your recorded decision.
What the download contains
• The SML DCF Comparison Workbook and its accompanying English guidance and existing sales terms
• The Earnings Check blank and fictional-example .xlsx files, with English guidance

Important boundaries between the tools
Data does not move between these files automatically. You enter and review all financial data and assumptions yourself. There are no live data feeds, filing imports, trading connections or automatic alerts.
Earnings Check defines free cash flow as operating cash flow minus cash capital expenditure. That figure is not automatically the annual unlevered FCFF used in the DCF model. Do not map it directly into the DCF starting-FCFF field or turn quarterly growth into long-term assumptions mechanically.
The new Earnings Check and Position Size Planner use USD. The DCF workbook's currency labels do not perform FX conversion. Match currencies, units and definitions yourself.
The position planner's assumed exit is not a guaranteed price, and planned loss is not maximum loss. DCF values are assumption-dependent estimates. None of the tools guarantees an investment outcome.
For the underlying concepts, read the free guides to FCF and FCFF, DCF valuation, and risk and diversification.
Software and compatibility
The three workbooks are .xlsx files. The notebook is provided as an editable Word document and a fillable PDF. Test your PDF viewer's ability to save and reopen completed fields; use Word for longer notes.
The calculation models in Earnings Check and Position Size Planner were tested in Windows Microsoft 365 Excel 16.0.20430.20146 and Windows LibreOffice Calc 7.4.2.3. A 14-case suite passed in each application, including recalculation and save/reopen checks. Version 1.0.0 preserves those formulas and calculation results. The publisher also confirmed use in Excel and Calc.
These checks cover the tested applications and cases. Excel for Mac, Excel for the web, Google Sheets, mobile apps and other versions have not been verified for this release.
The unchanged DCF workbook’s tested environments and scope are described on its linked product page and in its included compatibility guide. The publisher confirmed the notebook in Word and LibreOffice Writer; exact Word and Writer versions were not recorded. Its 22 PDF fields and 22 Word controls passed fill/save/reopen checks.
Earnings Check and Position Size Planner have editable, unprotected formulas. Keep clean backups and avoid overwriting calculation cells. Read the included compatibility guide and each product’s model limits before use.
