Build it without Breaking It : The Non Developer's Guide to Making your own fitness app with AI
This book exists because someone asked for it.
On r/BuildWithClaude, a non-developer asked a question that a lot of people quietly share:
"I'm not a developer at all, but I want to create a fitness app for my personal use. I've always tried to create other apps, but they all turned out badly... What is the best way to try again without failing? I really want an easy way to do this without feeling lost."
That question deserved more than a comment, so I wrote the full answer: the process developers use to keep projects from falling apart, in plain language, with no coding required.
What you'll get
- Why your past attempts failed: the 5 ways AI-built apps fall apart, and the one rule that prevents each
- The one-page App Brief: a fill-in template plus a complete worked example
- Slicing: how to break your app into small steps you can test yourself
- Project memory files so Claude never "forgets" your decisions, even in a new chat
- The Build Loop (Plan → Build → Test → Save) with checkpoints you can always go back to
- When things break: the 3-line bug report and the three-strikes rule that ends endless fix loops
- Getting it on your phone with free hosting, and keeping your data safe
- A 14-day plan, a copy-and-paste prompt library and a one-page cheat sheet
Early access, and it keeps growing
The method is complete today. I'm also building the book's example app, LiftLog, in public by following the book step by step, exactly as you will. Every finished step adds a new entry to the Build Diary at the back of the book: what was built, how it was tested, what went wrong and what it taught me. When the build shows a chapter could be clearer, that chapter gets fixed.
Try the app at every stage: https://liftlog-wine.vercel.app
Buy once and every update is free. The early-access price goes up when the app reaches v1.0.
For: non-developers who want to build a small app for themselves, and who have tried before and felt lost.
Not for: developers, or anyone planning a startup.
