"Blue Maize" is a watercolor and soft pastel work on Arches watercolor paper. This is a loose, colorful expressive study. Playing wtih abstraction and technique to create a sense of life and growth and vibrancy. The watercolor and soft pastel is almost evenly distributed - the watercolor is not just an underpainting. It really set the structure and tone, and the pastel punched the colors and softened edges.

This piece won a Merit Award of Excellence at the Chesterton Womens Club 2025 Exhibition in Chesterton, Indiana.
