It was a lazy Sunday afternoon when the incident occurred. John and his wife Barbara were enjoying a relaxed day together at home. John was lounging on the couch, flipping through TV channels, while Barbara busied around in the kitchen, preparing a light snack.

Suddenly, John had an idea. He perked up and called out to Barbara. "Honey, remember my shrink ray invention from work? I'm going to try it out!"

Barbara poked her head out from the kitchen, wiping her flour-covered hands on her apron. "Oh, that silly toy? Are you sure that's a good idea? We don't even know if it works!"

But John was undeterred. He had tinkered with the device all week and was confident it would function as intended. "Yes, I'm positive! Now hold still." He pointed the shrink ray at his wife.

"Wait, John, I really don't think-" But it was too late. John had already pressed the button. A blinding green light enveloped Barbara's body.

When the glow dissipated, Barbara found herself miniaturized down to only 2 inches tall! She looked up at her now gigantic husband towering over her in shock. "John! What have you done?! Make me big again, right now!"

John laughed and set the shrink ray aside. "Aww, don't be such a fusspot! Aren't you having fun? We could play all sorts of games like this!"

Barbara glared up at him, not amused in the slightest. "Games?! You call this a game? Give me that device so I can reverse this!"

But the mischievous John held the ray just out of her tiny reach. "Oh no no, I don't think so! You're staying small until I say otherwise."

Barbara huffed and puffed, trying to blow the shrink ray closer. But it was futile. John's reach was far longer than her miniaturized form allowed.

Cursing under her breath, Barbara scurried off the table and across the floor. Maybe if she could make it to the other room, she could find something to stand on and grab the shrink ray. She ran as fast as her little legs could carry her.

But John was right behind, his heavy footsteps shaking the ground. "Where do you think you're going, little Barbie?" he called out in amusement. "You can't escape me!"

Barbara didn't dare look back, afraid of what she might see. She pushed herself to run even faster, her heart pounding in her ears. Almost to the doorway... a few more steps...

Suddenly, Barbara felt a huge, shadowy form block out the light. She skidded to a stop just as John's massive wooden clog slammed down an inch from her body! She looked up to see him grinning down at her, wiggling his toes.

"Going somewhere, tiny?" John asked with a smirk. Barbara shook her head vigorously, backing away from that enormous, looming foot. But John just laughed. "Aww, don't be a scaredy-cat! I'm just playing around."

He lifted his clog high into the air. Barbara cowered, squeezing her eyes shut. This was it. She was going to be squashed like a bug under his big wooden sole!

But instead of feeling the crushing impact, Barbara heard a familiar voice scream out in pain and surprise. Her eyes flew open to see John hopping around on one foot, howling in agony.

"Ow ow ow! My toe! What the heck?!"

Barbara looked down to see that in his clumsiness, John had dropped his clog right on top of his other foot, crushing his big toe! The poor man hobbled around, cursing and blubbering.

Feeling a bit devious herself now, Barbara scurried right up John's pant leg and climbed onto his foot, using him like a jungle gym. She stood on his toes and grabbed the trapped clog, heaving with all her might.

"P-put me down you little witch!" John sputtered, trying to shake her off. But Barbara held tight, digging her fingers into his skin. With a mighty pull, she heaved the clog off John's bloody, broken toe.

John collapsed to his knees with a wail of pain, his tiny wife safely on the floor. Barbara stood over him, victorious, still holding the clog. "How do you like being at someone else's mercy, big guy?" she asked with a wicked grin.

For once, John was speechless. Barbara took that chance to scurry off to the couch, climb up, and snatch the shrink ray. She aimed it right at John and fired before he could protest.

In another flash of green, John found himself shrunk down to Barbara's height, staring up at his smug wife. "I think you've learned your lesson about playing with things you don't fully understand," she said, wagging a finger at him.

John could only nod sheepishly, feeling rather foolish and more than a little afraid of his newly empowered wife. Barbara set the ray down and helped her shrunken husband to his feet. "Let that be a warning to you. Now let's go have a nice snack in the kitchen, shall we? I think I deserve a treat after the scare you gave me!"
