Five seconds on. Five seconds off. Then six seconds on. Five seconds off. Then seven.
Reprieve is built around one rule: the green light grows by one second every cycle and the red light never changes (5 seconds). Many cycles across 65 minutes, starting at 5 seconds of motion and ending over 80 seconds. The stop that felt like a genuine pause at minute two is the same five seconds at minute sixty, but by then you've been running for over a minute straight and it barely registers.
The motion during each green phase rotates through five stroke patterns, without a pattern. The body can't predict what arrives after each stop, only that something will and that it will run longer than the last time.
The red light stays. Everything else grows.
