Shokker Paint Booth V6.2 Alpha Update
This Alpha update is a major upgrade to Shokker Paint Booth, focused on PSD workflows, layered paint editing, better finish quality, and stronger iRacing-ready spec map behavior.
What’s New
PSD + Layer Workflow
Shokker Paint Booth now includes PSD import and layer-aware editing. This allows painters to work with more complex templates and layered artwork instead of being limited to flattened images.
Layer-Aware Zones
Zones can now interact more intelligently with PSD layers and specific color/layer targets, giving painters more control over exactly where finishes are applied.
Stackable Base Overlay Layers
Each zone can now use multiple stacked base/overlay layers. You can combine solids, specials, monolithic finishes, overlays, and spec behavior in more flexible ways.
Improved Paint Finish Engine
Many paint functions were rebuilt or improved, including bases, specials, ColorShoxx-style finishes, material finishes, spec overlays, and patterns. The update focuses on finer 2048x2048 detail, better coverage, less blobby texture, and more visually distinct finishes.
Better Color-Shift Illusions
Because iRacing does not support true color-changing paint, SPB now uses more advanced base/spec map tricks to create stronger color-shift illusions through fine flakes, layered contrast, and spec-channel interaction.
Cleaner Finish Catalog
The Special finish picker has been cleaned up to reduce duplicate entries, old fallback finishes, and legacy junk appearing in the shipping UI.
Spec Map Improvements
Many spec overlays were improved for better detail, more coverage, and more useful visual response in-sim.
Stability + Runtime Fixes
This release includes many behind-the-scenes fixes for renderer registration, runtime syncing, missing finish protection, bundled Python dependencies, and app packaging reliability.
Known Note
This is still an Alpha release. Some visual categories are still being actively improved, but V6.2 is a major step forward and includes the new PSD/layer workflow that will define SPB going forward.
