Beautiful blocks of marled color crisscross the Banner Springs shawl, which is knit in a combination of seed stitch and drapey garter rib. This shawl is worked on the bias from one corner lengthwise to the opposite corner.

The instructions call for a light fingering weight yarn to be held double for the entire shawl. The color changes are made gradually by using strands of two contrasting colors for the transition sections. Knitters may also choose to use a heavier fingering weight yarn and only one strand at a time (approximately 750 yds required in total) without the marled effect.

The pattern includes instructions for resizing the shawl if desired. The stitch patterns are both written and charted.
