GOD BLESSED AMERICA – God Blessed America by Bro H
[Mayflower Compact, 1620] “In the name of God, Amen.” “For the glory of God And advancement of the Christian faith.” [Verse 1] The Mayflower crossed the ocean; The Pilgrims brought the Word. They covenanted civil government In the presence of the Lord. Their children and their children’s children Were an inheritance to keep; They sought a home to serve their God, Not freedom from His rule. Connecticut declared its purpose: Preserve the gospel of the Lord. The founders sought to guard our liberty; The people were the source of civil power. Franklin asked the gathered delegates, “Can an empire rise without His aid?” “Except the Lord build the house,” Its builders labor there in vain. [Chorus] God blessed America; His blessings filled the land. His covenant required us To keep what He commands. We turned from Him to idols And cast His Law aside. Return to Jesus Christ our King; Let His Word be our guide. [Verse 2] “I will also appoint a place For My people Israel.” A home where they could raise their children, Keep His Word, and serve Him well. The fields brought forth abundant grain; The hills supplied their store. We sent our wealth to other nations; Our ships sailed far beyond our shores. But Moses warned that full-fed people Would turn from God to sinful ways; Forget the One who gave them plenty, And give their idols thanks and praise. Our fathers’ faith could not excuse us When we refused what God commands; The blessings promised to obedience Could be withdrawn from homes and lands. [Verse 3] The monuments and statues rose; The capital displayed its gods. We honored wealth and earthly power While turning from the Word of God. Corrupt men entered public office; Their gifts and favors purchased laws. They used their power to take our freedoms, And churches would not name their wrongs. God said to lend and take no interest; Help your brother in his need; Release the debt each seventh year, Do not let his hardship feed your greed. We chose instead to live on credit; Our children must repay the loans. The nation once that lent to others Now borrows to sustain its own. [Spoken Scripture — Deuteronomy 28:44] “He shall lend to you, And you shall not lend to him: He shall be the head, And you shall be the tail.” [Chorus] God blessed America; His blessings filled the land. His covenant required us To keep what He commands. We turned from Him to idols And cast His Law aside. Return to Jesus Christ our King; Let His Word be our guide. [Verse 4] The schools abandoned Bible teaching; The screen instructed us instead. Our children mocked their fathers’ counsel And followed what the actors said. The courts approved same-sex marriage; Unborn children lost their lives. Adultery became amusement; Greed was praised and justified. We worked the land without its Sabbaths; We fouled the rivers, stripped the soil. Wars consumed our sons and treasure; The powerful grew rich from others’ toil. The widow’s savings lost their value; The worker’s wages fed another’s greed. We called our growing riches blessing And would not face our wicked deeds. [Verse 5] The ministers protected offerings; They promised wealth to those who gave. They would not name the nation’s evil; They preached a flight and called it “saved.” “Her priests have violated My law”; The prophets whitewashed what was wrong. The church declared, “I have need of nothing,” While those who warned could find no welcome. But God called her poor and blinded; Her riches could not clothe her shame. We would not keep what He commanded, And let corruption go unnamed. His hand was never short of power; Our sins had turned us from His light. A vote cannot replace repentance; A politician cannot be our Christ. [Bridge] “Let us search and try our ways, And turn again to the Lord.” “If My people who are called by My name Humble themselves and pray And seek My face And turn from their wicked ways, Then I will hear from heaven, Will forgive their sin, And will heal their land.” [Final Chorus] God blessed America; His blessings filled the land. Now turn from sin and seek His face; Obey what He commands. Confess the wrong we have defended; Let His Word become our guide. No king but Jesus Christ our Lord; Let Him rule the land and our lives. [Spoken Ending] “The land is Mine.” “For I am the Lord, I change not; Therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed.” No king but King Jesus Christ.
