The Big Creek Parkway Trail has been around forever, it seems. Before rail-to-trails, before towpath trails, before the rest of the impressive Emerald Necklace trail system happened, this intercommunity bikeway came to be in the 1970s. Following the lay of the land as it wiggles between trees and across brooks through quiet suburban neighborhoods this trail is moderately level with one of my favorite coasting hills at its south end. No, the route does not return uphill on that coaster.

Next on the agenda is the newer Lake-to-Lake Trail which connects... two lakes. But not just regular lakes. These lakes are special - and beautiful. "Lake Abram is the largest remaining glacial wetland in Cuyahoga County and offers a quarter-mile boardwalk of scenic views of its expansive wetland". Lake Isaac is "a glacial pothole created thousands of years ago" and is an important - and scenic - habitat for wildlife.
