Francisco Lopez

Francisco Lopez is thirteen years old and lives in rural Guatemala with his disabled mother and younger sister. To support his family, he works long days on a coffee plantation while trying to continue his education. Every morning and evening, he walks miles between home, school, and the fields.

When his worn-out shoes finally fall apart, Francisco faces a problem that threatens both his work and his future. With no money to replace them and no help from the plantation management, he decides to take an extraordinary step. Spending his only day's wage, he travels to the nearest town and writes a letter to the head of the company he believes owns the plantation.

What begins as a simple request for ten dollars becomes a journey that reveals the realities of poverty, family responsibility, and the determination of a young boy refusing to give up. As Francisco waits for a response, his story unfolds into a powerful struggle for dignity, opportunity, and hope.
