The Polymer Laboratory:
Making playdough, slime and cloud dough
Chemistry doesn't only happen in test tubes
with mysterious liquids; sometimes it happens right in a mixing bowl
with flour, glue, and oil. Kids naturally love squishing, molding, and
stretching sensory materials.
By making our own playdough, cloud dough, and slime, we turn the
kitchen into a polymer chemistry lab. Each substance teaches a different
lesson about molecules, states of matter, and cross-linking agents—all
while keeping things age-appropriate and fun.
