Confidence & Self Belief age 9-12
Confidence & Self-Belief
Confidence is not something we are simply born with — it is something we build over time. In this educational wellbeing session, children explore how confidence develops through effort, practice, learning and taking small brave steps.
Children learn that feeling nervous, making mistakes or finding something difficult does not mean they are failing. Instead, they discover how challenges help us grow, how a growth mindset supports resilience, and how positive self-talk can strengthen confidence over time.
This session helps children learn to:
✔ Understand what confidence is and how it develops
✔ Recognise that confidence grows through practice, effort and experience
✔ Understand that mistakes are an important part of learning
✔ Explore the concept of a growth mindset
✔ Learn the difference between “I can’t” and “I can’t yet”
✔ Identify unhelpful thoughts that can hold confidence back
✔ Practise using positive and realistic self-talk
✔ Understand that bravery often comes before confidence
✔ Develop strategies for approaching challenges and setbacks
✔ Create a personalised Bravery Box containing confidence-building reminders, goals and encouragement
This session also includes:
✔ Pre-recorded lesson
✔ Printable worksheets and activities
✔ Parent overview
✔ Simple calming and confidence-building techniques
✔ Information about mindfulness and how it can support emotional regulation, focus and wellbeing
