The Straits Shawl is an asymmetrical triangle shawl beginning with a few stitches and worked sideways. It is shaped with increases along one edge. The shawl is knit in a simple slip-stich pattern and combines sections of solid colors with vertical stripes.

All measurements are given before blocking. The textured stitch pattern will lie flat, and it is not necessary to block the shawl unless desired.

Yarn – 870 yards (796 meters) DK weight yarn in two colors:
MC – 470 yards (430 meters)
CC – 400 yards (366 meters)

Finished Measurement: 65” (165 cm) along top edge, 24.5” (62 cm) at deepest point.

Needles: US 8 (5 mm) circular needle long enough to accomodate a large number of stitches.

Gauge and yarn weight are not crucial to the pattern, but please keep in mind any changes will affect yardage and finished measurements.
