Beneath Black Combe

Thomas Rook returns to Lowside, Cumbria, after his mother's death to find Black Combe, the fell above his home, is hungry. In 1999 his friends vanished. Now peat preserves their bodies, shafts breathe, and the village feeds its children to the hill for iron, for wishes, for warmth. To stop it, he must remember, dig, and let it go cold.
