The Brioche Clutch
The Brioche Clutch can be used to hold your essentials for running errands, for a night out or as a project bag. The metal frame and felt lining (see pattern notes) allows the bag to sit upright when open. Perfect for carrying your knitting project, your day or evening essentials such as purse, phone, lipstick etc. See page 2 of the pattern (or below) for links to several tutorials including how to knit brioche and how to add the lining.
Materials:
Hjertegarn Merino Cotton (DK; 50% superwash wool/50% cotton;120m/131yds per 50g ball) x 4 balls. Shown in shade:
Blue Version: 1660 Navy (MC) x 2 balls & 1620 Baby Blue (CC) x 2 balls
Pink & Purple Version: 9130 Magenta (MC) x 2 balls & 1800 Amethyst (CC) x 2 balls
3.25mm (UK 10/US 3) circular needles (60cm/24in long)
Two markers (different colours if possible)
Tubular clutch frame, 10x20cm
75x50cm/30x20in felt fabric or cotton fabric with interfacing (see pattern notes)
Basic sewing kit (needle or a sewing machine, pins)
Size:
Width: 18cm/7¼in
Depth: 10cm/4in
Height: 18cm/7¼in
Tension:
24 sts and 34 rows over 10cm/4in in Stocking Stitch worked in the round after steam pressing.
20 sts and 29 rounds over 10cm/4in in two colour brioche (MC & CC rounds) worked in the round.
Exact tension is not essential but a difference in tension may affect the final size and amount of yarn used.

Notes re lining:
I used felt to line the clutch as felt is thicker than cotton fabric and will give the clutch more structure. If using cotton fabric, add a stiff interfacing to add structure to the clutch and cut to larger measurements including a hem allowance at the top to conceal raw edges.
