When I walked the 84-mile Hadrian's Wall Path, I did a lot of research beforehand, poring over guidebooks packed with information, so I wouldn't miss anything worth seeing. Figuring out what was actually coming up each day still meant flipping through pages and filtering out what mattered from what didn't. Without putting in that kind of legwork, it's easy to miss something worth stopping for along the way.

I originally created this checklist as part of my guided journal, My Hadrian's Wall Journey: A Guided Walking Journal & Memory Book. If all you want is a way to track the sites along the route, you can get the checklist on its own. It lists the sites in the order you'll reach them on the trail, in whichever direction you're walking, already sorted out so there's nothing to dig through.

This checklist covers the sites. If you want more than that, daily journal pages, a wildlife tracker, space to reflect on the whole walk, and everything else that comes with it, the journal gives you all of it, and I'd recommend that instead.

Hi, I'm Anisa. When I walked the Hadrian's Wall Path myself, I had to filter through pages of guidebook information just to figure out what was coming up next. I put this checklist together afterward so other walkers have it already sorted out. I also run the Hadrian's Wall First Time Walkers' Community on Facebook, where walkers share what they spotted along the way.

Do I still need a guidebook or map?

Yes. This checklist doesn't include maps or route directions, it's designed to be used alongside a guidebook or your trail itinerary, not replace one.

Which direction should I choose?

Choose the version that matches which way you're walking: West to East (Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend) or East to West (Wallsend to Bowness-on-Solway). Sites are listed in the order you'll reach them either way.

Is this included in the Hadrian's Wall walking journal?
