Ludwig van Beethoven was born on December 17, 1770 in Bonn, Germany. He was one of the most influential composers and pianists of all time, known for masterpieces such as the Symphony No. 9, Moonlight Sonata, and Fidelio. His career spanned the late Classical and early Romantic periods, and he played a crucial role in shaping Western classical music.
Beethoven suffered from progressive hearing loss, becoming completely deaf in his later years. Despite this, he continued composing some of his most famous works. He died on March 26, 1827, in Vienna, Austria, likely due to complications from liver disease, possibly cirrhosis, lead poisoning, or another underlying illness.
In 2023, researchers extracted and analyzed Beethoven’s DNA from preserved locks of his hair to investigate his health issues and cause of death. The DNA analysis was conducted by the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Germany.
I gathered his DNA from European Nucleotide archive and processed it. I ran Beethoven through qpAdmixture to determine his ethic breakdown, I also ran him through my Trait predictor and GWAS health predictor tools.
