Seasonal Scented Cleaning

This booklet grew out of a thrifty, frugal dilemma.I liked the idea of scented cleaning products and the way a clean room can feel lighter, calmer, and more seasonal with an aromatherapy blend. But I didn’t like the cost, or the suggestion that I needed a different product for every surface.

What I wanted instead was something that didn’t cost a lot and was simple and adaptable.

I decided to do some research into DIY cleaning sprays with essential oils. It was great fun, and I realised that almost all of my cleaning could be done with just two base formulas in a spray bottle. These can in fact be used on their own without essential oils added, but I wanted that spa, or herbal haven scent in my house. 

Fragrance can be added which links to the season, the room, or simply how the day felt.

This guide is not about perfect cleaning, complicated recipes, or buying new oils. It’s about creating a simple system that works with what you already have, or a few inexpensive oils which will last a long time.  

You don’t need to make everything at once. One bottle, one blend, is enough to begin.

Think of this booklet as something to return to occasionally -  a reference guide, not a rulebook.
