Lessons Learnt Guide

A practical, step-by-step framework for capturing, logging, actioning and sharing lessons learnt on IT-enabled business transformation projects. It covers where and when lessons should be captured across the project lifecycle (retrospectives, gate reviews, post-implementation reviews, closure), why the process matters, and how to log, assign, validate and close each lesson. It defines who leads the process (the Programme/Project Manager, supported by the PMO) and who else is involved, with a RACI table setting out responsibilities. The guide places particular emphasis on the final step — sharing closed lessons into an organisational repository — as the element that distinguishes real learning from a report nobody reads.
