Total 1 gives you the foundations and the traditional Italian styles: posture, pizzica, saltarello, siciliana. Total 2 takes the instrument into modern playing: split hand, duplets and triplets, Arabic rhythms, a 7-beat composition in South Indian style, quadruplets.

About the instructor
Andrea Piccioni is one of the leading international voices in the art of frame drums and the Italian tamburello. His work expands the expressive possibilities of these instruments, moving between oral traditions, contemporary music, improvisation, jazz, early music and electronic soundscapes.
He is Professor of Frame Drums at the Saverio Arlia Conservatory in Nocera Terinese (Italy). His artistry has brought him to stages worldwide, performing alongside Bobby McFerrin, Richard Bona, Paul McCandless, Riccardo Tesi, Basel Rajoub, Gianluigi Trovesi and Wu Man. Since 2014 he has been part of the Aga Khan Master Musicians.

Andrea Piccioni è una delle voci internazionali di riferimento nell'arte dei tamburi a cornice e del tamburello italiano. Il suo lavoro amplia le possibilità espressive di questi strumenti muovendosi fra tradizione orale, musica contemporanea, improvvisazione, jazz, musica antica e paesaggi sonori elettronici.
È docente di Tamburi a cornice al Conservatorio «Saverio Arlia» di Nocera Terinese. Ha suonato sui palchi di tutto il mondo accanto a Bobby McFerrin, Richard Bona, Paul McCandless, Riccardo Tesi, Basel Rajoub, Gianluigi Trovesi e Wu Man. Dal 2014 fa parte degli Aga Khan Master Musicians.
