  • There's a whole lot of writing advice online, but a lot of it can be vague and unhelpful. You get the gist of what you're supposed to do - perhaps you can clearly see the result or effect you're aiming for - but the practical process of how to actually achieve it remains a mystery. This course aims to de-mystify the skills of horror fiction writing by presenting you with specific, applicable, and useful techniques at all levels of the writing journey.

    Moreover, this course provides you with a strong foundation in horror storytelling, from which you can build upon your skills and knowledge in a way that will significantly elevate your horror writing craft.

    If these are the kinds of solutions you're looking for in your own horror writing journey, then this course is definitely for you.

  • You do not need to be an experienced horror writer to take this course. In fact, writers who are just beginning to explore horror fiction will probably get more out of this course than more experienced horror authors.

    However, this course operates on the assumption that the student is familiar with the basics of plot, setting, character, conflict, and so on - the core skills in writing fiction.

  • Zombie March isn't assignment-heavy. This is because the best way to assess your understanding of the course content is through allowing you to apply lessons learned.

    • There are 13 short quizzes, which you are required to pass to move on to the next lessons. These are mainly comprehension-based, meaning if you read the lessons, you will find them quite simple.
    • There are a number of Challenges, but these are not graded and can be used as thoughtful or discussion-based prompts. In other words, you do not need to complete them, but they are recommended.
    • Finally, there is the Final Project, in which you must write a short horror story that clearly shows you have applied the lessons learned in the course. While this is also not required, it is essential if you want to earn your certificate.

  • Yes! This course allows you to learn at your own pace, completing lessons without a deadline. Don't worry about running out of time, whether it takes you three weeks or three years.

    There are plans to release a drip schedule version of the course which imposes a 31-day schedule for learners, but it's unlikely that any hard deadlines will be imposed.

  • Currently, this course is not accredited or licensed by any educational or professional organization. That being said, it is unlikely that you would require professional licensing or accreditation to write your horror fiction.

  • You will be most comfortable experiencing this course on a laptop/desktop computer. You will need an internet connection to access the course.

  • The course was designed as a 20-30 hour experience (based on instructional hours). In reality, it could take about double the amount of time to complete, taking into consideration also the final project, which is an original short story.
