Artist Andre Lhote was born in 1885. At the age of thirteen, he entered the Art School in the city of Bodo. In 1904 he graduated from school, was engaged in painting and in 1906 he moved to Paris.

In the French capital, the artist seriously became interested in the works of Gauguin and Cezanne, joined Fauvism, but gradually adopted Cubism. After serving in the army and the end of the First World War, he returned to painting, became an expert in the field of cubism, began to publish articles on art and engaged in teaching. He taught not only in France, but also in the countries of North Africa and Brazil.

Andre Lhote has written several fundamental books on art.

The artist died in 1962.
