When Chet, Toreni, and Jirra rescue Marisa, the mistress of Shar Burk’s brutal governor, Soldar, they think they’re simply helping a woman escape to a new life. But what did Marisa do to earn a death sentence? Is it just a power play between tyrants or something far more dangerous?

As the Misfits follow the trail, Marisa discovers a whole new world beyond Shar Burk Station and men far kinder than Soldar. But their act of mercy hasn’t gone unnoticed. With help from a traitor in Fleet Intelligence, Soldar is on their trail, and he wants one thing… All of them dead.
