Cambridge Anthropometry Course


Friday 25th July, 9am-4pm, Novotel North Cambridge


A practical one-day course for clinicians working with adults, including dietitians, dietetic support workers, nurses and doctors, who wish to develop skills in accurate bedside anthropometry.


You will learn to measure:

  • Mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC)
  • Triceps skinfold thickness (TST)
  • Mid-arm muscle circumference (MAMC)
  • Calf circumference
  • Handgrip strength
  • Additional measurements can be taught on request


You will learn how to take measurements on patients sitting and supine (lying on back) and important considerations for clinical practice and research.


The course is designed and taught by Lynsey Spillman, Specialist Hepatology Dietitian, with anthropometry specialists Dr Emanuella De Lucia Rolfe and Richard Powell from the MRC Epidemiology Unit, University of Cambridge.


The course includes:

✅ Post-course access to demonstration videos, detailed instruction manual and spreadsheet to calculate your team's inter-rater variability with guidelines on acceptable measurement variation.

Refunds are available with at least 3 weeks’ notice prior to the course date. No refunds will be offered for cancellations made less than 3 weeks before the event. After this time, places may be transferred with no extra cost.
