Svengali Deck

The Svengali is one of the first decks most magicians buy and one of the least used. This is forty three minutes on getting real work out of it.

It opens with how the deck actually functions, how to cut and shuffle it convincingly, and the force, and then it is nine routines rather than nine tricks.

Geared toward intermediate to advanced performers. A few of the routines need supplies, though most performers will already have what they need.

The nine effects

• Slightly Ambitious. A card is chosen and a different card is shown. The two switch places.
• Instant Mind Reading. A card is chosen. They say it over and over, and you name it.
• Easy Reversal. A card is chosen and returned. When the deck is spread, only that card is face up.
• Sealed Prediction. A sealed envelope sits on the table before a card is chosen. The card inside matches.
• Svengali Cut. A prediction on the table, a chosen card, the deck cut into several piles. They pick a pile and the top card matches the prediction.
• Going Home. An empty card case is shown. A card is chosen. When the case is opened, their card is inside.
• Elevator Card. A half envelope with two holes and a pencil through them. Turn the pencil and a card rises from the deck, but it is the wrong one. Turn it the other way and the wrong card goes down while the chosen card comes up.
• Ambitious Svengali. However many times the deck is cut, the chosen card returns to the top. At the end it is in your pocket.
• All the Same. The chosen card is replaced and rises to the top. The cards are shown all different. The chosen card goes to the bottom, and then every card is shown to be the same.
