For a long time, I lived as though I were standing on trial.

The Courtroom Was Empty is about finally walking into that courtroom and realizing there was no judge waiting for me. No jury. No prosecutor keeping a record of every mistake, every failure, every moment when I wasn't who I thought I should have been.

There was only me.

I had spent years questioning myself, defending myself, replaying decisions, and measuring who I was against who I believed I should have been.

I thought healing meant eventually proving that I was worthy of forgiveness.

But there was never a verdict I needed to earn.

There was never a sentence I had to finish serving.

I could simply stop putting myself on trial.

And when I finally did, the courtroom became what it had always been.

Empty.

I stopped putting myself on trial.
