Daddy Christmas Vacation

I can remember the first time my mother brought him home. And I recall how relieved I felt when I realized her new boyfriend was over twice my age. Oddly enough, every man my mom has brought him after my birth father passed away has been only a few years older than me. Whenever I used to ask her why she was choosing to date, such young men. My mother would start droning on about how loving and perfect my biological father was. And how my mom could never replace him, so she might as well just “have some fun.”
