Somethin' Shifted
The refrigerator shook.
Something else finally loosened.
Somethin’ Shifted is a playful, soulful rock song about coming home with the whole day in your shoulders—and discovering your feet have a few ideas of their own.
The keys land beside the speaker. A low note crosses the floorboards. A questionable dance move sends a refrigerator magnet to the floor.
“I attempted something graceful.
The refrigerator shook.”
Then the room grows quiet, and the song makes space for what the movement brought to the surface: someone missed, something regretted, a feeling that doesn’t need an immediate answer. When the rhythm returns, there’s room to stand up again.
“There’s a little more of me here
than there was before I played.”
Warm humor, a tender pause, and a joyful return to the floor. The dishes still need doing. The magnet goes back a little crooked. Somehow, that looks about right.
Somethin’ shifted.
I think I’ll let it be.
