Capricho Forró (solo violin)
Capricho Forró is part of a series of 13 caprices for violin, each made with a Brazilian rhythm.
.
Forró is a party originated in northeastern Brazil at the end of the 19th century. Very popular, especially at festas juninas (June parties), it is also a dance and musical genre. The songs are traditionally played by instrumental trios with accordion, zabumba and triangle. There is an interpretation that says that the term forró comes from the corruption of the English for all, indicative of the condition of popular dances in the northeast region of Brazil and marked by North American military personnel established there during the Second World War. Forró became an extremely popular phenomenon in the early fifties and its main representatives are Luiz Gonzaga, Dominguinhos, Jackson do Pandeiro and Sivuca.
