Williams %R Explained — Stop Fading Strength (PDF Guide)
You bought the dip because Williams %R was oversold, and it kept going down. You sold because it was overbought, and it climbed for another three weeks without you. So you did what everyone does - you decided the indicator was broken, moved the levels to -10 and -90, and got the same result more slowly.
The indicator was working perfectly. It was answering a question you were not asking. This is a 36-page PDF that teaches Williams %R from the first thing you see on the screen through to a written strategy with an entry, a stop and an explicit rule for when the trade is wrong.
Nothing is taught underneath a chart. Every label sits on the candle, the line or the level it is describing, on real BTC and DOT charts, with the measured values printed on the panel. There are three quizzes on real charts, each followed by the same chart re-shown annotated with the reasoning, plus faded practice pages where the first steps are filled in and you finish the rest.
WHAT'S INSIDE
- Why every number is negative — The 0 to -100 scale, what the three levels are, and how to read it
- Both inputs, and the levels most people never find — Length and Source live in Inputs; the three rails live in Style
- Overbought is not a sell signal — Measured on a real trend: 48 bars pinned above -20 while price rose 29%
- The one filter that makes it work — Establish the trend first, then take the rails in one direction only
- Three signals, on real charts — The dip in an uptrend, the rail rejection, and the midline cross
- A full strategy, with a worked trade — Entry, stop, invalidation and outcome - reported honestly
- Three quizzes on charts, plus practice — Faded examples and a blank chart, with the reasoning on every answer
WHAT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO DO
- Read a panel where every value is negative without second-guessing it
- Say what Length actually changes, in touches per hundred bars
- Tell a mean-reverting market from a trending one before you take a rail signal
- Take oversold signals only in the direction that has an edge, and ignore the rest
- Recognise the pinned-overbought trend that punishes everyone who fades it
AN HONEST NOTE
Williams %R is a clue, not a crystal ball. It describes what price has already done. This guide contains no win-rates, no backtest results and no promises about what you will make, because nobody can verify those and you should not trust anyone who prints them. What it hands you instead is a set of rules you can test yourself on TradingView in an afternoon. Educational, not financial advice.
