Protecting the Future

4.5 stars - I love how Alexis "Lexie" McCabe and Dawson James first meet. Then the way the chemistry pops between Lexie and Quinn Spencer....🔥

I really like how things ebb and flow between the three of them. The times that they spend together are sweet, tender, funny, exhilarating, and scorching. The floor is destined to fall from under them, but the setup makes it worth it.

Another thing I love is all of the imagery. I feel like I've spent plenty of time in Alaska, the scenes are so vivid.

Toward the end, things seem to get away from Lexie for a little bit. I was taken aback by some of it and encouraged by other actions. I'm still not sure how I feel about them being a couple versus throuple. I really like the teamwork action!

Also, there is something about the last chapter or two that's missing. I can't put my finger on it, but something's not there that should be.

This should be read in series order for the best experience but reading it as a standalone is a possibility. Bring on the next book!

I loved revisiting this book through audio. The narrators, Kelly Lindsay, Tyler Darby, and Robert Hatchet are all fantastic. It honestly isn't a surprise as I've listened to all three previously and liked them. I enjoyed the occasional accents, the urgency, and more.

Thrilling and exciting romantic suspense - holds true with revisions!

Her Wild Coast Refuge (Wild Hearts Series Book 5) by Dakota Davies is another thrill a minute page turner. And it's a thrill from multiple elements; chemistry, attraction and a taboo sort of attraction at that, the threat to Soren Creek, hidden cross purposes, personal threat and fear just to name a few.
As far as characters go, Lexi is fascinating and endlessly energized about everything outdoors. Her perpetual positivity will draw you in and keep you hopeful throughout. And her impetuous, impulsiveness will keep you on the edge of your seat at times too.
Dawson and Quinn, despite their purpose for being in Storm Harbor, are kind, generous, charming, bold, determined and persistent too. The three of them fall into like, giving them permission to explore. Unbidden, hearts engage and the risk of hurt increases tenfold.
The action within the plot and subplots is plentiful. Especially the mysteries surrounding Storm Harbor and the McCabe family specifically. Details lead to revelations but not resolution! That's just fine with me because that means there's more Wild Hearts books to come. And I was not put off by the three main characters exploring their chemistry, nor Dawson's unfortunate and unsatisfying situation. This author handled this 'could be kinda taboo' elements beautifully and from the heart. Then there's the adventurous outdoor activities. These scenes felt so real, as though I were right there in the great outdoors experiencing it all.
I have to say that I re-read, then listened to this book shortly after my dad passed this past September ('23) and the outdoor scenes brought so many beloved memories of my dad that I hold this particular book of the series very dear. My dad loved camping and fishing and I was almost always a part of those wonderful bonding activities. Proudly a daddy's little girl!
The audio was especially exciting. The narrators brought out all the emotions of these characters, bringing the story to life in a very vivid manner.
Overall, even though the mysteries are not solved (yet!), this book is by no means a cliff hanger. Dawson, Lexi and Quinn find their rightful HEA and the promise of more McCabe family and Storm Harbor is likely around the not too distant corner. There is much to be resolved and I cannot wait to see how Ms. Davies continues this thrilling and wildly romantic suspenseful ride. Whether you prefer to read or listen, this book is amazing either way!
I read and listened to an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.

Loved the triple narration of Tyler Darby, Robert Hatchet and Kelli Lindsay, who bring out the action, romance and mystery. Perfect.

Lexie has always had her brothers watching over, but this has made her what a strong woman . Dawson and Quinn are best friends. In town for business, they meet Lexie, when she comes up to them asking one to them to kiss her, to make her ex leave her alone. The two of them hire her to be their tour guide while in town. The money is good , which will help her save the local environment.
Lexie's connections and interaction between Dawson and Quinn is full of humour and steamy. We have mystery and twists with MFM steamy scenes.

The Dreamer, The Strategist and The Activist

Lexie loves Soren Creek and is so committed to her grandfather’s legacy of protecting it. When she meets Dawson and Quinn, she wants to show them what it is she loves about Alaska. However, these two represent mining interests that could ruin all Lexi loves. On top of that, the mystery that plagues Lexie’s family has new developments. I loved the descriptions of their fishing activities in Wild Alaska - it really brought this places to life. The narration of this story gave it a lush and entertaining feel - Dawson’s accent, Lexie’s enthusiasm and Quinn’s humour all shine through. As the second to last book in this series (it’s Their Wild Coast Rebel rebranded), the story arc is heating up!

Finding common ground

Both our heroes and heroine are struggling with a big problem, but they have no idea they are all working on the same concern. Unfortunately, they are also approaching it from different directions, which means the building relationship has a major issue in its path.

This is book five of the series. Each book is written as a standalone, so feel free to jump in anywhere. Just note there is a continuing thread through all the books, so to get the full story, start at the beginning.

This is a romantic suspense story, one of my favorite genres. The story is well written and easy to read with a simple, realistic setting nestled along the Alaskan coast. The characters are well developed with solid backstories and a tinge of mystery. I really liked both our heroes (yes, there are two) and heroine and felt they all had excellent chemistry. As one would expect from this genre, we got a nice blend of action and intrigue along with romance and some nice steam. Overall, this was a wonderful story and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Highly recommended.
