Snakes and Ladders Crochet Pattern

A Snakes and Ladders set designed for the garden.

It is made from DK using a traditional granny square for the board.  It only has 36 squares as it is aimed at smaller children but you can make it any size you want to.

The playing pieces and dice are made with UK-dc (US-sc).  

I don’t see the point in making toys for children which can’t be washed so I use machine washable acrylic DK. This means that you don't have to worry about them getting dirty because you can just throw them in the washing machine. It also comes in a variety of cheerful colours.

Materials:  Wendy Supreme DK (100g/295m) in 4x Red 15, 4x Sunshine 22, 4x Aster 34, 1x Emerald 47, 1x White and 1x Black, toy stuffing. 
Notions:  4.00mm hook, 3.00mm hook, tapestry needle for sewing in ends.
Tension:  The first 8 rows of the squares for the board measure about 19 cm (7½ inches).
