For anyone who used to pray and somewhere along the way stopped. Fourteen days. Ten minutes each. Both a fillable and a printable version.

You still believe. That was never the problem.

The problem is that it's been a while.

You didn't storm out of anything. There was no crisis of faith, no argument, no dramatic exit. You just missed a Sunday, and then a season, and one day you noticed you hadn't prayed about anything that actually mattered in longer than you want to admit. The radio's on in the truck. The TV's on at night. And somewhere underneath all of it is a quiet you've been careful not to sit down in.

I know the shape of that, because I lived in it.

This is a workbook for coming back. Not for starting over, and not for getting saved again. For coming back.

What it is.

Fourteen days. One page a day. Each page has a short piece of writing, one verse, two or three honest questions with room to answer them, and one small assignment you can finish in about ten minutes.

Ten minutes is the whole design. You've quit reading plans before. Most people have. They fail somewhere in Leviticus around day nine, and then the failing becomes one more thing you feel bad about. This one is built so that failing at it is almost impossible.

The first week clears ground: honesty, silence, saying the hard thing to God, forgiving somebody, making one repair, grieving what you lost, and then resting. The second week rebuilds: opening the Book again, learning to pray without a special voice, counting what you still have, taking care of the body you're in, loosening your grip on what you've accumulated, getting back around people, and finally, deciding what the years you have left are for.

What you get.

Two PDFs, 19 pages each, in one download.

The fillable version. Real form fields. Type your answers on your phone, tablet, or computer, save it, and pick it up tomorrow where you left off. Every day has a checkbox for the assignment.

The printable version. The same fourteen days with wide ruled lines, sized for a pen and an adult hand. Print the whole thing, print one week at a time, or print one page a day and carry it in your shirt pocket.

Both include a cover page with your name and start date, a "Before You Start" page, an end-of-week-one review, and a page after Day 14 for deciding what happens next.

About the verses: each day gives you the reference and the space to write the verse out yourself, by hand. That's on purpose. Copying Scripture by hand slows you down enough to actually hear it, and it turns a page you skimmed into a page you sat with.

Who this is for.

  • You grew up in church, or came to faith later, and it went quiet somewhere along the way
  • Something knocked the wind out of you — a divorce, a diagnosis, a layoff, a funeral, a kid who doesn't call — and your faith went quiet along with it
  • You left a church over something real and never went back
  • You've started four reading plans and finished none of them
  • You want to do this privately, without walking into a building or telling anybody.

Who this isn't for.

I'd rather tell you now than take your money.

  • If you're brand new to faith and want the basics explained, this isn't that book. It assumes you already know the words.
  • If you want something light and encouraging, know that Days 3, 5, and 6 go somewhere uncomfortable. Anger at God, an apology you owe, and a loss you never grieved. That's the point of them, but go in knowing.
  • If you want somebody else to do the work, a workbook can't help you. There are fourteen assignments in here and every one of them is yours.

The honest part

This is one man's guide, written from the far side of my own drift. It isn't counseling, it isn't medical advice, and it isn't a substitute for a pastor or a doctor. Some of these days will bring up more than a page can hold. If that happens, that isn't a sign the workbook failed. It's a sign to call someone who can sit in the room with you.

Instant download

Both PDFs arrive the moment you check out. No shipping, no waiting, no account to create. For the fillable version, open it in the free Adobe Acrobat Reader app so your answers actually save — some built-in phone viewers will let you type and then quietly lose it.
