This resource was created because I know that having knowledge, consent, support, and advocacy can help all women, but especially Black women, who are in the middle of a maternal health crisis in the United States. We are dying 3-4x that of our white counterparts, so I wanted to emphasize the importance of having a strong, educated and empowered birth team that is culturally competent and not only aware of the racial bias that is present in healthcare, but that there is an intentional plan in place to combat it.

That said, this is a great resource for anyone who wants some guidance on how to assemble the birth team

that is best for you.
