Zack & Zenna.pdf
Jenna stared at the shrink app on her phone screen, her heart pounding. She'd been tempted for so long. Her boyfriend Zack was being such a jerk lately, always bossing her around. Well, maybe he needed to be taken down a peg. Or a few pegs, in this case.
With trembling fingers, she selected Zack and hit the button. A blinding flash of light filled the room. When it faded, Zack was still sprawled on the couch where she'd left him sleeping. But now he was only an inch tall.
"Oh my god," Jenna breathed. It actually worked.
She carefully scooped up the miniscule figure in her hand. Zack woke up with a start, squirming and shouting in a high-pitched voice. "Jenna, what the hell did you do to me?!"
"Nothing, just a little adventure, that's all," Jenna said with an evil grin. "You like that, don't you?"
Zack paled. "No, I hate it! Change me back, please! Anything!"
"Anything, huh? Okay then. Let's go for a ride." Jenna giggled as she unzipped her purse. She dropped Zack inside and zipped it shut.
"Help, I'm trapped!" Zack cried from inside the bag.
Jenna laughed and said "Squeak squeak little mousey!" as she headed out, her purse swinging at her side.
As she walked into the hospital where her sister worked, Jenna greeted the nurse at the front desk. "Hey sis! I'm here for my check-up."
Her sister smiled. "Oh Jenna! So good to see you. Let's head back to the exam room."
Jenna followed her down the hall, still grinning to herself about Zack. Her sister pulled back the curtain around the exam room. "Hop up on the table for me."
As Jenna climbed up, she felt something squirming urgently in her purse. Apparently Zack was trying to get out. She smirked and ignored him, swinging her legs off the edge of the table.
Her sister bustled back in a few minutes later, her giant wooden clogs clacking on the tile floor. "Okay hun, let's take a look at you..." She grabbed the chart board and started flipping through it.
As she leaned over to smile at Jenna, one of her shoes slipped back. There was a muffled crunching sound. Then a brief, high-pitched scream before silence.
Jenna gasped. "What was that?!"
Her sister looked down, confused. "I don't know. Sounded like I stepped on a bug or something."
Jenna gulped. She reached into her purse with a shaking hand. Her fingers closed on a miniscule arm, limp and broken. A few more bits came out, smeared with blood. Her eyes filled with tears. It was Zack. Somehow he'd gotten out and laid himself down on the floor, right in her sister's path.
Dead. He was dead, and it was all her fault. Jenna sobbed into her hands as her sister looked on in confusion.
After a few minutes, her sister put a hand on her shoulder. "Jenna, honey, are you okay? Is everything alright?"
Jenna sniffled. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Just go ahead and do the exam."
She squeezed her eyes shut as her sister began prodding and poking. She couldn't believe what she'd done. When it was over, Jenna thanked her sister robotically and fled the office.
In a daze, she walked out to the parking lot. She had to get home. Get away from here. As she unlocked her car, a flare of light drew her eye.
There on the pavement. A tiny figure, naked and stroking himself. Zack was alive!
Jenna's eyes adjusted and she saw what he was looking at. Her sister had been wearing a short skirt. Apparently when she'd stepped on Zack, her shoe had flipped her skirt up, treating him to a view of her panty-clad bottom as he died.
And now the pervert was jerking off to it, having no shame even in death! Jenna made an angry noise and stomped her foot down. This time there was no scream, only another crunch.
She got in her car and sped home. Her hands shook on the steering wheel. She'd done it. She'd killed Zack with her own feet, in her anger and shock.
When she got home, Jenna went straight to her room. She shut and locked the door, collapsing on her bed. She couldn't believe she'd actually done it. Shrunk her boyfriend, let him get himself killed.
A tiny sob burst from her throat as grief and guilt crashed over her. She curled into a ball, clutching her pillow as she cried herself to sleep. The shrink app was a liar. It didn't work like that. It didn't come with a reset button.
Zack was gone forever. And it was all her fault.
