Maltings Socks Pattern
This sock pattern and the coordinating shawl have both been designed to celebrate the 15th Unravel Festival in Farnham, held annually at The Maltings, it has grown to a three-day event celebrating all things yarn. These socks are worked top down with a heel flap. They feature a colourwork panel on the leg followed by a cable detail and stripes. There is an optional second cable detail panel on the foot.
Yarn
Crush – 75% Merino, 25% Nylon. 400 m per 100 g
50 g light main colour (MC) and 50 g semi solid contrast colour (CC)

Needles
2.5 mm (US 1) and 2.75 mm (US 2) needles, or size needed to get gauge
Pattern can be worked in any method for knitting on a small circumference in the round. Sample was knitted with a 25 cm (10”) circular with double pointed needles as necessary for heel and toe
Gauge
34 stitches and 48 rounds to 10 cm (4”) in stocking stitch using smaller needles
Size
Finished sock circumference 16.5 (19, 21) cm (7.5”)
Designed to be worn with approximately 2.5 cm (1”) negative ease around the foot
Notes
You may like to use a cable needle, or cable pattern can be worked without if preferred. 3 stitch markers and a tapestry needle are also required
