Jay Road

Jay Road is a seamless yoke sweater designed for kids and teens aged six to sixteen. Simple cable twists accentuate the shape of the yoke and add visual interest to the sleeves.

With split hems and a low-hip length, the fit is comfortable and warm for layering over jeans or tights, without feeling oversized.

The sweater is worked top down in DK yarn, with short rows used to shape the neckline. Stitches are picked up under the arms before the torso and sleeves are worked in the round. The sleeves are worked last, also in the round.

This pattern is best suited to confident intermediate knitters. It offers a satisfying challenge - the yoke combines short-row neck shaping with a knit-and-purl pattern worked from a wide chart. Knitters comfortable following charts and managing multiple techniques at once will find this an engaging and rewarding project.

The pattern takes its name from a family holiday spot where cousins spent evenings roasting marshmallows, while Mum and Aunty talked through knitting ideas that would have been perfect for the occasion.
