About the artwork
Vermeer's Little Street (around 1658) is a portrait of an ordinary Delft street: a brick house with shutters, a passageway, a woman sewing in the doorway and children playing in front of the house. Brickwork, windows and white plaster give the stitcher lots of small, satisfying areas.
