Traditional calendar comparisons align dates rather than trading patterns. In retail, this often leads to misleading year-over-year results due to weekday shifts.
Retail fiscal calendars are modeled using fixed weekly patterns. When the accumulated day drift exceeds the length of a week, a 53-week fiscal year is introduced. All these patterns are defined as standards into NRF Retail Calendars.
