Build the offcut-conversion project: hardwood strips left over from cutting boards and charcuterie boards become a set of four coasters instead of firewood. This 5-page PDF plan (Build Plan No. 8 in the Fox Feather Farms winter series) makes a set of four 4 x 4 in (10.2 cm) coasters, 3/8 in thick, in maple, cherry, or oak — one 16 in strip of 4 in wide stock cuts the whole set. Inside: a layout diagram and a cut diagram, a side-view diagram for the optional two-post holder, a full cut list, a materials list with per-line costs in Canadian dollars (about $8 typical per set), the tools required, finishes and wait times, and a 7-step build summary from milling to 3/8 in through sanding to 320, sticking on the cork pads, and sleeving the finished set in kraft with a ribbon. Two finishes are covered — food-safe tung oil for a natural look, or wipe-on poly for gloss — plus three set variants from the same blanks, initials routed or painted on, batch tips, a materials recap, and safety notes. Personal use only — print and use as often as you like for yourself or as gifts; please don't redistribute the files or resell them.

What you need: 4/4 hardwood (maple, cherry, or oak — offcuts are ideal), a table saw or miter saw, a planer or router sled to mill to 3/8 in, a sander, and peel-and-stick cork pads. A printer if you want the plan on paper.
