Cosy Cottage Sewing Case Workshop

Step by Step video lessons to walk you through how to make the Cosy Cottage Sewing Case pattern

What's covered in this workshop?

The Cosy Cottage Sewing Case Video Workshop is a series of 9 pre-recorded video lessons, almost 2 hours in total, that walk you through how to make the case from start to finish. You can pause, rewind and rewatch the videos as often as you need. Each step is explained in detail with clear, close up visuals to guide you through. I am also on hand to help with any questions. The class was designed to go hand in hand with the PDF pattern for the sewing case, which can be found here. If you haven't already purchased a copy of the pattern, you will need to, before taking this class.

What you will need

To take this class, you will need to purchase the PDF pattern which can be found here.

You will also need:

  • 12" x 20" double sided fusible foam. I use ¼” thick foam called Legacy Flex-Foam
  • 14" x 22" felt for the inside - wool felt works best as it adheres to the fusible foam and is harder wearing than acrylic felt. You could substitute this with cotton fabric.
  • 14" x 22" cotton for the outside
  • 28 x 2" clamshells (either paper or Hexiform)
  • 10" x 6" Hexiform or paper for the door, windows and curtains
  • Fabric scraps for the clamshells and windows and door. For each clamshell you’ll need at least a 3" square piece of fabric.
  • 21mm snap fastener
  • A strip of fabric 3" x 44" for the straight binding. You could join two pieces of fabric to achieve the required length.
  • 27" of bias binding that is ¾” wide.
  • A strip of fabric 3" x 13" for the roof appliqué
  • 12 ½” x 14 ½” fabric for the large open pocket
  • 12 ½” x 12 ½” fabric for the small open pocket
  • 12 ½” x 15" fabric for the zip pocket
  • Two, 3" x 1 ½” fabric for the zip tabs
  • 10" zip
  • 35" x 13" and 15" x 13" medium weight iron on interfacing
  • Sewline glue pen
  • Hand sewing needle and thread. I use size 10 milliners needles and Wonderfil Invisafil or Deco Bob Thread
  • Scissors, pins, an iron, fabric pen and a sewing machine
