This Valentine’s Dinosaur Art Lesson is a Valentine’s Day art project where students use oil pastel and paint to create a dinosaur artwork that looks great on a Valentine’s bulletin board. It is a fun way to keep students engaged as Valentine’s Day gets closer, and it fits nicely into an afternoon of art.

The lesson comes with a visual and text step-by-step (each step on its own page with a description), a lesson plan, a rubric, a finished example and a step-by-step drawing handout, for the classroom or homeschool.

WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING

★★★★ “I love these types of resources because they have everything I need in regards to instructions and an example! My 2nd graders loved being able to paint theirs after using pencil, permanent marker and oil pastels! They have a way of turning out unique in their own way! Highly recommend!” Yadira B.

HOW TO USE IT

Read the lesson plan and gather the materials in advance, and photocopy the step-by-step drawing handouts and rubrics. You may want to make a sample yourself first. Print the example artwork in color and show it before the lesson as your hook.
