For the price of a couple of takeaway curries, you can bring the warmth of a Bangladeshi kitchen into your own home with my second cookbook, Banquet of Bengal.

After the love and support I received for my first cookbook, I knew there were still so many recipes from my kitchen that I wanted to share with you. This book is a continuation of that journey, filled with even more of the homemade Bangladeshi food I have cooked for my family throughout the years.

These aren’t restaurant-style recipes. They are the dishes that belong in a home kitchen. The curries that slowly simmer on the stove, the comforting daal, the fragrant rice dishes, the vegetables, fish and meat dishes that fill the table, and the little recipes that turn an ordinary day into something special.

Growing up in Sylhet and moving to the UK in the early 1980s, cooking traditional Bangladeshi food has always been one of the ways I have stayed connected to home. The recipes in this book carry memories of Bangladesh, my family and the many years I have spent cooking and adapting these dishes in my own kitchen.

Banquet of Bengal is filled with recipes made to be cooked, shared and enjoyed. Whether you’re completely new to Bangladeshi cooking or grew up eating these flavours, I hope you’ll find something here that makes you excited to get into the kitchen.

To make the book easy to follow, I’ve kept the recipes straightforward and practical, with clear instructions designed for home cooks. I’ve thought carefully about how each recipe is presented so you can cook along comfortably without feeling overwhelmed.

Inside you’ll find:

A Farewell from the Kitchen

With 70+ traditional homemade Bangladeshi recipes, this book is a collection of the food that means the most to me.

I made my first cookbook to preserve the recipes I loved and to share a piece of my kitchen with you. With this second book, I wanted to continue that story. There are still so many dishes, memories and flavours worth passing down, and I hope this collection becomes part of your kitchen too.

For me, food has always been about more than following a recipe. It is about feeding the people you love, gathering around the table, sharing stories and keeping traditions alive. I hope these recipes do the same for you.

From my home to yours, I hope every recipe brings warmth to your kitchen, every meal brings people together, and every bite tastes a little like home.
