Soul Fragrance — Ab Imo Pectore is a collection reflections and musings born from the most unlikely of places: a phone screen, a hospital bed, and a heart learning to beat again.

After surviving a critical brain surgery that stripped away her ability to speak, write, and think, Rajshri began putting words together — first as therapy, then as testimony. What emerged was not a story of suffering, but a luminous map of what it means to rise, to love, and to find light in the spaces where darkness seems absolute.

Arranged across four movements — Rising from the Ashes, The Ones Who Stay, A Lifetime Within a Lifetime, and The Light Within Souls — these thirty pieces move fluidly between verse and prose, tracing a journey from breakdown to breakthrough. Here you will meet the phoenix who refuses to stay fallen, the friend who crosses a city to keep a promise, the mug of coffee that knows how and when to love, and the "insignificant" gestures — a morning text, a gentle poke, a surprise visit — that quietly save lives.

Rajshri writes the way a close friend speaks: without pretence, with warmth, and with the kind of honesty that makes you pause and reach for someone you haven't called in a while.

This is a book for anyone who has ever felt unseen, for anyone who has loved without labels, and for anyone who needs reminding that the light within the soul never truly goes out — it just needs a spark.

Ab Imo Pectore — from the depths of the heart.

There are many well written books of reflections and essays that leave you with a sense of discovery or enlightenment, or deep introspection or upliftment. However there are not many books that effortlessly manage to do all of these and more while leading you by hand on a journey as you explore the infinite facets of a human soul. I found Rajshri's book to belong to that rare category. She has that unique gift to find identity, soul, divinity in the pain, the diurnal, the seemingly insignificant acts of a seemingly mundane life and relationships and then celebrate that discovery like a prospector who has struck gold - and she makes you part of the whole process.

While this is a book of reflections consisting of prose and poetry there is an arc like a novel moving through the four sections that actually makes it possible to read this from cover to cover like a story. But when you start devoting time and attention to each of the individual reflections you get the feeling that she is sitting next to you, using her own soul's experience of her pain, joy, despair, hope, love to help unravel the deepest secrets that your own soul holds for you in your everyday life and relationships. It is the secret of finding the elixir of life in the commonplace. In this age of impetuosity when everyone is telling you that joy and fulfillment is to be found in the extravagant and extraordinary no matter how difficult they may be to attain, come to this book and discover that the answer lies within you and your soul.

I whole heartedly recommend this to anyone who is willing to take a chance on a fresh new voice that speaks to your soul.
