PLANET A: VISUALIZE, COMPREHEND & FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE – BECAUSE THERE IS NO PLANET B!

It’s getting hot in here - but not just that, the weather is getting more and more extreme with climate change progressing. But how much has the climate changed, really?

“Planet A” visualizes how much each month’s temperature differs from the long-time average, showing just how extreme our new normal is.

By turning complex data into a wearable accessory, it can more easily become a talking point and conversation starter and hopefully not only lead to more awareness but individual action and mitigation of the climate crisis.

As opposed to temperature blankets or shawls, the “Planet A” project does not represent the daily weather but the difference from the monthly average temperature to the long-term monthly temperature (over a 30-year period) of a region. This visual representation of climate change hopes to make this complex topic more comprehensive and accessible.

PLANET A: KLIMAWANDEL SICHTBAR MACHEN, BEGREIFEN & BEKÄMPFEN - DENN ES GIBT KEINEN PLANET B!

Es wird heiß – aber nicht nur das, das Wetter wird mit dem fortschreitenden Klimawandel immer extremer. Doch wie stark hat sich das Klima wirklich verändert?

„Planet A“ visualisiert, wie stark die monatliche Durchschnittstemperatur von den Normalwerten (der Durchschnittstemperatur eines 30-jährigen Zeitraums) abweicht.

Indem komplexe Daten zu einem tragbaren Accessoire gemacht werden, können sie leichter verstanden und zu einem Gesprächsthema werden.

Dies führt hoffentlich nicht nur zu mehr Bewusstsein, sondern schlussendlich auch zu individuellen Veränderungen und kann so einen kleinen Beitrag zur Linderung der Klimakrise leisten.

Im Gegensatz zu Temperaturdecken oder -schals stellt „Planet A“ nicht das tägliche Wetter dar, sondern die Differenz zwischen der aktuellen monatlichen Durchschnittstemperatur und der monatlichen Durchschnittstemperatur einer Vergleichsperiode. Diese langfristigen Durchschnittswerte werden in der Regel über einen Zeitraum von 30 Jahren gemessen, und werden als „Temperaturnormalwerte“ oder „Langjähriges Mittel“ bezeichnet. Erst durch den Vergleich wird ein Kontext geschaffen.
Die visuelle Darstellung des Klimawandels soll dieses komplexe Thema verständlicher und zugänglicher machen.
