This document was produced under API standardization procedures that ensure appropriate notification

and participation in the developmental process and is designated as an API standard. Questions

concerning the interpretation of the content of this standard or comments and questions concerning the

procedures under which this standard was developed should be directed in writing to the

API standards are published to facilitate the broad availability of proven, sound engineering and

Any manufacturer marking equipment or materials in conformance with the marking requirements of an

API FOREWORD

This standard is under the jurisdiction of the API Standards Subcommittee on Valves and Wellhead

Equipment (API C1/SC6). This API standard is a modified adoption of the English version of ISO

14313:1999. ISO 14313 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 67 Materials, equipment and

offshore structures for petroleum and natural gas industries, SC 2, Pipeline transportation systems.

In this standard certain modifications have been made. These technical deviations have not been

incorporated into the document. A complete list of modifications and their justification is given in API

Regional Annex F (Normative). Also in Annex F is a list of known editorial corrections to the ISO

document.

For the purposes of this standard, the following changes have been made:

a) Deletion of ISO Forward from the international standard, replaced by API Special Notes and

Forward;

b ) A national informative annex (Annex E—API Monogram) has been included giving guidance to

users.

This standard shall become effective on the date printed on the cover but may be used voluntarily from

the date of distribution.

API publications may be used by anyone desiring to do so. Every effort has been made by the Institute to

assure the accuracy and reliability of the data contained in them;
