Canoe Song for Flexible Beginning Band

"Canoe Song" is based on two Canadian folk songs: "My Paddle's Keen and Bright," and "Land of the Silver Birch." Both songs have been traditionally sung while canoeing to keep time. There are endless possibilities with this arrangement designed for any combination of beginning band instrumentalists. Four parts of slightly different difficulties can be mixed and matched. The band may repeat the 8-bar themes as many times as desired with variations in dynamics or instrumentation as chosen by the teacher. It is also possible to play Part 1 or Part 2 as a round.
