I was inspired by the changing of seasons, the vibrant colors of Fall and the chilling bite of the winter wind. I love everything about the season, from the fallen leaves that crunch beneath my boots to the walks I enjoy with my dad and his dog Teddi at their favorite park in Boulder City, Nevada. The desert can be quite cold and windy in the winter and easy- to-wear accessories are essential to me when I bundle up! The Arboreta cowl also makes for an attractive and colorful accessory peeking out of the top of that winter coat!

The Arboreta cowl is an asymmetrical triangular-shaped cowl that is worked flat and features an allover mosaic lace leaf pattern. The cowl starts with stitches cast-on at the left shoulder and increases are worked every right side row at the neck edge. An I-cord edging runs along the top neck edge and down the side of the cowl. Once the circumference of the neck is reached, you work evenly until the length of that section match the measurement of the cast-on edge. The cowl is bound off using an I-cord bind-off. Once the piece is blocked, the cast-on edge is sewn to the straight edge on the right edge of the cowl using the mattress stitch.

It might seem like a mind-bender, but take a look at the schematic on the next page.
